Intent
- To ensure the National Curriculum for Mathematics is taught so all children can become fluent, reason mathematically and solve problems.
- For all children and staff to recognise that each and every child can achieve in mathematics and is given the opportunity to do so.
- To promote the values of resilience and independence and to recognise mistakes and misconceptions as an essential part of learning.
- To embed deep rooted knowledge of number facts, making connections and seeing relationships.
- To develop confident mathematicians who are able to talk about their knowledge and understanding.
- To ensure problem solving and reasoning skills are integral to every learning opportunity.
- To regularly assess children using formative and summative assessment to monitor children's progress.
- For children to recognise the purpose of their mathematics learning within the wider context of their life experience and become enthusiastic and curious mathematicians.
