Key Stage 1 Multi Skills

Pupils from Years 1 & 2 attended a multi skills event at King Arthur's Community School in Wincanton on Friday 10th May. We are very proud of each and every one of you that took part and we thank you for being outstanding representatives of our school. All the children displayed great attitudes and growth mindset to take part in all the activities.

Outdoor Learning

All year 5 pupils have been given the fantastic opportunity of taking a day off timetable to work in the outdoor environment with Mr Ingram. They have learnt lots of new skills including; lighting fires safely; grass skiing; making dens; wood carving and many other exciting activities. As part of this wonderful experience, the children have worked collaboratively and enjoyed the variety of being outside.

Choir- April 2019

The Choir were very busy last month attending many engagements over Somerset. We could not be prouder of the way they conducted themselves and represented our school. They sang at ‘The Festival of Song’ at The Octagon Theatre Yeovil and ‘The Spring Community Concert’ at The Wincanton Memorial Hall. They looked the part in their smart choir shirts, including Mrs Bartlett and Miss White in their matching outfits, and sang beautifully! Well done.

Remembrance 2018

Each child in the school created a poppy out of a wooden spoon with three parent volunteers and after a remembrance assembly planted them in the remembrance garden to pay tribute to all the people who lost their lives in WWI. As part of the assembly a special tribute was made to the 30 men  from Milborne Port who went to fight in WWI but sadly never returned, their names and ages were called out by year 6 children and a poppy for each was displayed.

Pumpkin Competition

The PTFA ran a fantastic Pumpkin Competition which Mr Lockey and Mr Laughton judged. There were so many brilliant pumpkins they found it very difficult  to choose a winner, eventually they were able to choose one for each class and one for the group competition. The winners and their pumpkins can be seen below. Well done to all the children who took part!

A huge number of our children completed the Summer Reading Challenge which was run in libraries across the country. All children who completed the challenge in our fantastic local library were invited to a party to celebrate their achievement in the school hall on Saturday 22nd September. The children took part in various reading related activities and were all awarded with a certificate and a medal. Well done to all those children who took part!

February 2018

We were very lucky to have a visit from Dr Tim from Bristol university who showed us some really exciting science experiments. We had a brilliant lesson in chemistry with lots of pops, whizzes and bangs!

March 2018

Well done to all the staff and pupils that braved the snow on World Book Day and came to school dressed as their favourite characters. After a whole school costume parade winners were announced for the best outfit. Mr Lockey also shared the winners of the extreme reading challenge set over half term. As it was such a cold day, Mrs Eyres shared stories about her character, Mrs Pepperpott, at break time. We all had lots of fun!
